This festival is devoted to Mahalakhmi (Supreme Goddess) in all her supreme incarnations of 9 forms.  'Amma' lights 'Aganda Vilakku' - this is a miracle performed every year - She kneels before the 'Akanda Vilakku' and licks the wick - and it lights by itself.  The festival's responsibility is with area mandrams.
